Snow, chokecherries and kittens

A touch of snow left in the budding chokecherry bushes this morning. We had about an inch of snow on the ground for an hour or so and then it melted although we had snow showers on and off all day.

Two of our barn cats have looked like they swallowed softballs the last couple of weeks. This led us to be on the lookout for brand new kittens in the barn. Yesterday these little kitties appeared in one of the mangers in our big barn. This prompted a phone call to our granddaughter to tell her the news. Her response was a squeal of excitement and a breathless, "I can't believe Butterscotch had kittens!" I emailed her a photo of them as soon as I got off of the phone. We are planning on branding in three weeks and I am sure these kittens will become aquainted with a little girl who loves animals, especially cats. Hopefully, the mama cat will not move and hide them where we can't find them!
