The yellow in this photo is the markings on one of the legs of the railroad bridge at Medora, North Dakota.This photo was taken two weeks ago before the Little Missouri River finally crested several days later. The river crested at 20.47 inches which was just short of the record of 20.50 inches. The Little Missouri's water level has dropped considerably. While, the "big" Missouri here in North Dakota is still rising and causing much damage.

Good to hear that some of the water levels are subsiding.
I call those yellow flowers buffalo beans; it's latin name is thermopsis and it is poisonous to horses, cattle and people.
It occurs to me, after perusing this post and Shirley's comment, that there is a good reason that yellow is the color for CAUTION.

Your yellow flowers are beautiful, their like our wild sweetpeas in the mountains but their multy colored. The flooding sure bad, if we would have gotten our usual hot weather, with the snow pack we have is would have flooded the valley.

Excellent photo of the wildflower, we don't have that one here in Minnesota. All I could say is that it is in the Pea Family and it sure is pretty. We have friends in Mandan..they are concerned about the flooding too and it is seeming to go on forever..:(
