Sunday Stills " Sculptures and Statues"

My sculptures and statues for this week's Sunday Stills are all located in downtown Sheridan, Wyoming. The downtown area has 16 permanent sculptures and numerous others that are on loan and are for sale. It seemed like there was a sculpture on every corner and also in some unexpected places. I noticed them when we visited Sheridan last summer. When this topic for Sunday Stills was chosen, I knew where I was going to take my photos! It just so happened that we were going to Sheridan this past week, talk about perfect timing!
When I first caught site of this lady, I did a "double-take". She looked so real standing down there on the corner! Even as I approached closer, it was still easy to wonder if she might turn and smile. The name of this sculpture is "Granny's Garden,Free Zuccinni, Take Some."
The next sculpture is "Saturn and Titan". The colors were very striking and I really
like the way the shadow of it hits the ground. It kind of reminds me of a sundial.
This one made me laugh when I looked across the street and saw "The Boss" sitting on the corner! Notice the bird tracks on his shoulder!
These are two of the more abstract pieces.  "The Strollers" is fairly large and caught the sunlight in such a beautiful way. I didn't see the dancers until I was almost past them. Since they were across the street I didn't learn what they were titled. Don't they look graceful and full of spirit?
"Raptoround,Standing Proud" and "Gotcha!" Two of the wildlife pieces Both of them are very detailed. My favorite is the coyote hunting the mouse. The artist has obviously spent time watching a coyote hunt mice!

It is hard to say which of these pieces of art are my favorites. It has to be between Granny and her apron full of garden goodies, "The Boss" rhino on his corner. The guy below is right up there in the top three. The title of this one is "Bigger Flies for Tired Eyes" and is located right in front of a shop selling fly tying equipment. I love the detail the artist put into it, especially the concentration in the fisherman's eyes.

Oh I love the fisherman, I can so identify with all the glasses..reading glasses and sunglasses..when what you really need is a magnifying glass. I also liked the coyote..Great art in Sheridan..I have been there several times, it is a great little town to walk down the main street! :)
