Sunday Stills "High Tech/Low Tech

I have been a reader my whole life. I will read just about anything but am pretty partial to American history, especially of the West. It has not been unusual for me to be reading three books at once. I always had a book in the car or truck to read when I was waiting for my boys to come out of football or basketball practice. My two favorite places to read are a good rocking chair and the bathtub. I started reading to my boys when before they were a year old. When they were growing up, a trip to the library might have us bringing home twenty books between the three of us. My granddaughter is carrying on
with our love of books and reading. Her mom is a reader too (and a high school English teacher!).
Two years ago, one of my boys gave me a Zune for Mothers' Day. I do listen to music on it but I have discovered books that I can load onto my pink Zune! Now I listen to a good story or biography with or without earphones as I go thru my day. I listen to a book about  Teddy Roosevelt's time here in the badlands as I feed cows. This summer, I listened to a mystery while I was swathing hay. The first thing I do when I get in the truck after putting my seatbelt on is plug in my Zune so I can hear another good book as I go down the road. I stilll like to be able to switch back and forth between books, so I always have at least two books loaded on the Zune.
High tech or low tech, a good book is a thing to treasure. There is a time and place for each of them. High tech is good for those times in the truck or when I can't sleep at night. I put my earphones in and listen to a book without waking my sleeping husband up by turning on the light. The low tech side will never relinquish it's place for relaxing in the tub. Never will the high tech replace a real book held in my hands as my grandkids sit in my lap as I read to them.

Interesting..your love of books as affected your entire family!! Our big night out in the wintertime when we lived in the city was to go to the Library! I also raised readers and I still love to read out loud and I love to have my husband read to me..I have an English Professor too! Books can take you anywhere you want to go!
Your little pink Zuni is awfully cute! :)

I like that combo! I'd be lost without books to read, and without my audio books, I'd not be able to drive as long as I manage, and Malcolm would be really tired from making up for my slacking! I saw that book, Bound by Grass, last week and had to force myself to leave the store without it. I did write the title down for later though. I can't wait to read it! It looked like the kind of story I'd love. Let me know what you think of it!

that is interesting. I have listened to books on tape when I traveled, but when I'm out in the country, I like to hear the country noises! lol

I have never listened to books on tape excellent for the chronicles of narnia with the girls when they were young... now you got me thinking..:P

Avid readers here - my husband weighed the books we brought from WI - yes, one ton of books. literally! Do you have a list of non fiction books about the area at all somewhere? So far we have read "where rivers run north" "Badland" and Custers last stand..
